We decided to take a vacation at the end of September and wanted someplace warm. We decided on Corsica and booked the overnight vehicle ferry for Ille Rousse from Marseille on the 20th.The crossing took about 10 1/2 hours in a tight room with bunk beds. Fortunately we slept thru most of it.
Arriving in Ille Rousse at 6am still tired and stores closed, we did a quick tour and continued south to Calvi, where we spent the night a a very nice hotel, the Chez Charles, overlooking the Med.

The west coast is rocky with steep drops and narrow roads,
but beautiful scenery. |

Despite warnings all of our encounters with the locals
were friendly and we were treated very well |
